My name is Randy Drummer and I am your Vice President for Local #204. I have been a member of #204 since 1979, and have worked under the large group contract for Alliant Energy (Interstate Power & Light) and its predecessors, Iowa Electric Light & Power, and IES Utilities.
I started my career as a Temporary Utility Man in June of 1979 at the Sutherland
Generating Station in Marshalltown. Six months later, I was hired as a permanent Utility Man. I then moved on to a Coal & Ash Man, Mobile Equipment Operator, and then into the operations department. In operations, I worked Operating Engineer Helper, Operating Engineer 2ed Assistant (now floor operator) and Operating Engineer (now control room operator). I then went on to be an Instrument & Control Electronic Technician Apprentice, then Journeyman, and currently a Foreman in the I & C classification at the Prairie Creek Generating Station in Cedar Rapids.
I have been a Union Steward for nearly thirty years, and also a past Executive Board member, and I am in my second term as Vice President. I also have served on the Genco Apprenticeship Committee as Chairman and Secretary for twenty years, and have been on local safety committees.
I have been an IBEW 204 member since 2008. I am on the Black Hills Energy contract as a Corrosion/Leak Tech.
Previously, I was a welder and a foreman. I have been serving on E-Board since 2018 and have been a steward for about 5 years.
